Darjeeling Banana (Musa sikkimensis)

The Darjeeling banana is native to the Himalayan region and with good luck it could make a harvest here in the North as well. The tree loves a bright and sunny place. It’s fast-growing, so once the seeds have germinated and grown into small trees, move the seedlings to a pot large enough to make sure the bananas have plenty of room to grow. Due to the rapid growth rate, the tree needs a lot of water - so water often and fairly, but not so much that the soil stays wet. The banana tree also enjoys high humidity, so spray the leaves often. Fertilize weekly from April to October.
